#Katie Calahan- Director​

Katie Calahan is the director of the Junior Stars. Born and raised in St. Petersburg, she received conservatory training and her BFA in Theatre from Boston University.  Katie has over 10 years teaching experience. She has worked as an actress in New York, Los Angeles and here in Florida. Last seen in Pyscho Beach Party at WCP, GCP's Summer One Acts, Prelude to a Kiss, Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and Crimes of the Heart at SPCT. She recently directed Shrek! The Musical Jr  at SPCT, The Phantom Tollbooth Jr. and Disney's Peter Pan Jr. and is currently directing Just So Stories for the Junior Stars.  Katie is passionate about the local theater scene and working with the next generation of performers! 

​#Leslie Pavluk- Music Director

Leslie Brough Pavluk has been a music teacher for Pinellas County for 15 years teaching both elementary and secondary education.  She taught at Lakeview Fundamental Elementary and Pinellas Park Middle, as well as mentoring new teachers around the St. Petersburg area. A graduate of Heidelberg University in Ohio with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, this will be her third show as musical director for the Gulfport Jr. Stars. She has toured with the Heidelberg Concert Choir and Chamber Singers as well as the Singing Collegians. She is a veteran of the stage herself, performing in “Two by Two” and “Pirates of Penzance” at St. Petersburg City Theatre. She has been a musical director in children’s theater for 14 years with shows such as “Mulan Jr,” “Dr. DooLittle Jr” “Pinocchio,” “Grease Jr,” “High School Musical,” “Elf. Jr,” and “Seussical the Musical Jr” to name a few.  She has been a musical director at the Venue Theatre and College for Kids at St. Petersburg College in addition to her school’s choirs, SPCT, and the Jr. Stars.  She is currently taking piano and voice students for the summer. #Frank Ierna- Choreographer 

Frank Emanuel Ierna has been teaching in Pinellas County for over a decade. He has a BA in Exceptional Student Education and has spent much of his teaching career working with students with special needs. Frank also has an extensive musical background in which he as taught and performed in many different capacities. He currently teaches Improv acting at Thurgood Middle School, Play St. Pete, and has a weekly kids drop in class.
#Lucy Bishop- Assistant Director/Producer 

Lucy Bishop is on the Board of The Gulfport Community Players and serves as Board Liaison with The GCP Junior Stars. After majoring in Theatre Arts at Texas A&M University, with a special focus on Children's Theater, she served on the Board of The Provincetown Theatre Company in Provincetown MA, where she Produced and Directed the Company's Summer Plays for Children each year. She credits her success in life to the skills she learned in theater and is overjoyed to be part of passing them along to today's children.

5-7yr old performers were invited to bring poetry to life this summer:     July 2-6 (July 4th off) 10am-12pm. Final presentation Friday, July 6th 1pm.
