In November, 1981, the State of Florida granted a Charter to the Gulfport Community Players, Inc., designating us as a Not-for-Profit organization. As of Dec. 2003, we have had a 501(C)(3) tax status.
We are a completely separate entity from the City of Gulfport, but we do, however, rent the Catherine A. Hickman Theater of Gulfport for our mainstage performances.

The Gulfport Community Players have just closed a heart-warming comedy by John Patrick entitled,
The Curious Savage. The play told the story of Ethel Savage, who had been committed to a "sanitarium" by her children. It was their hope that this act will "bring her to her senses", allowing them to get their hands on the $10 million her husband left her upon his passing. The play was set in The Cloisters - a genteel asylum for guests struggling to cope with various mental problems.
The play was directed by Eileen Navarro, who won a Cathy Award for Best Director for last season's Noises Off!
She had a great cast of 12 people to work with, including a few people you might have know from our past plays.
